Five ways to qualify for admission
ASU Local applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
Top 25% in high school graduating class
3.00 GPA in competency courses (4.00 = A)
ACT score of 22 for Arizona residents (24 nonresidents)*
SAT Reasoning score of 1120 for Arizona residents (1180 nonresidents)*
*ASU does not require the writing portion of these tests.
Review competency requirements
Freshman applicants who have a high school diploma and meet the following requirements will be admitted to ASU.
- 4 years of math
- 4 years of English (non-ESL/ELL courses)
- 3 years of lab sciences (1 year each from biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences or physics)
- 2 years of social sciences (including 1 year of American history)
- 2 years of the same second language
- 1 year of fine arts or 1 year of career and technical education
Admission may be granted with one deficiency in no more than two competency areas. Deficiencies in both math and laboratory science are not acceptable.
Note: Some schools and colleges within ASU have higher competency requirements than the general university admission standards.

Note: You’ll be asked to pay the application fee when you complete your application. Select the option to pay later. ASU Local will waive this fee.
Application deadlines:
Spring start: Apply by Dec. 1
Fall start: Apply by July 1
Request your fee waiver
Start your journey with ASU Local without the worry of initial costs. Save $70 by requesting an application fee waiver. When you submit your request, we’ll apply the waiver to your application.
