A new Los Angeles college option for first-year and transfer students

Launched in 2019, ASU Local’s inaugural site in downtown Los Angeles was founded to bring high-quality bachelor’s degree options to all college-eligible Los Angeles students who are rooted in their community. The program aims to empower you to thrive, grow and have an impact on the places that are important to you from a personal and cultural perspective.

The ASU Local experience is designed to guide first-year and transfer students every step of the way through their bachelor’s degree journey. As part of ASU Local’s in-person, close-knit student community, a coach will guide and support you every step of the way during your entire college journey. They will be directly responsible for your wellbeing and success through intentionally designed learning experiences, including one-on-one conversations, workshops and other group activities. To ensure flexibility, you will choose from 160 online majors to complete coursework flexibly anytime, anywhere with an internet connection to earn a highly ranked bachelor’s degree through ASU.

ASU Local – Los Angeles brings together our community of students, coaches and success staff to the historic Herald Examiner building. You’ll find a close-knit network of support at this bustling local space designed to promote student success by: 

  • Encouraging small group interactions and study sessions. 
  • Being easily accessible through metro bus and train routes.
  • Offering one-on-one spaces for students and success coaches.
  • Providing plenty of room for interactions with students, staff and professors from other ASU programs.

The ASU California Center deepens the ties that ASU already has with many California high tech, educational and business collaborators. It features many top-ranked graduate and undergraduate programs from ASU and will serve as a hub for students to engage in internships, seminars and workshops in one of the most dynamic and creative economies in the world.

ASU Local makes your bachelor’s degree experience rigorous yet cost-effective

ASU Local annual tuition and fees differ depending on your program and whether you are in or out of state. For eligible students, the ASU Local Scholarship covers 20% of your yearly tuition and costs. In addition, our team will help you through the financial aid process and ensure ASU Local is affordable for your specific situation.
